ANE Ethics Training via Webinar

computer userThe Atlantic Northeast (ANE) District of the Church of the Brethren has chosen to participate in a pilot project of offering the ministerial Ethics Training--required periodically for all licensed and ordained ministers--over the internet via a webinar ("web-seminar").   All ANE ministers may choose to participate in one of the live trainings offered in several locations around the district, or via the interactive webinar.

All that is needed to participate via webinar is a personal computer with an high-speed internet connection and sound (no webcam nor microphone required, although if available we may use them). This may be done individually, or in small groups (several ministers gathered around one computer).  Simply follow the directions below to participate in the training that will display in your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or others).

Expectations

While no pre-registration is required, we ask that you login 15 minutes before the live session begins, at 6:45 p.m., to make sure your webinar connection is working, to establish your attendance, and to receive the preliminary instructions that internet participants will require.  It is expected that each individual wishing to be credited with participation in the district ethics training will make their presence known online at the beginning, and then will personally interact with the questions, discussions, and case studies presented, via responses to questions and the online interactive chat window provided.  Additionally, please be sure to have the time set aside to participate for the entire presentation, including a possible brief online wrap-up after the live session concludes, because it will be your responsibility to attend a different session (in person or online) if for some reason you are not able to be connected and interacting for the entire time.

We are grateful to the following organizations and persons, who have made this pilot project possible through their collaborative efforts:

  • Bethany Theological Seminary

    through Enten Eller, Bethany's Director of Distributed Education & Electronic Communication, and utilizing Bethany's technical resources and equipment;
  • the Mission and Ministry Board of the Church of the Brethren

    through Stan Dueck, Director for Transforming Practices for the Church of the Brethren; and
  • the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren

    through Craig H. Smith, District Executive.

Presenters for the Ethics Trainings will be Stan Dueck and Liz Bidgood-Enders.

These Ethics Traning webinars will be offered twice, and so if you wish to participate online you may choose to do so on either:

  • Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 7:00 p.m. EDT (broadcast as part of the live traning from the Parker Ford Church of the Brethren); or
  • Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. EDT (broadcast virtually as a webinar-only presentation from several locations).
