Bethany Welcomes Students For 2024 August Intensives

Bethany Theological Seminary and Earlham School of Religion (ESR) are currently offering seven August Intensive courses, with a total of 34 students attending class in person and another 26 connecting via Zoom.

Intensive courses, which are offered each year in August, January, and May offer students who are not regularly on campus the opportunity to attend a course in person. As the name suggests, these courses involve significant academic work in a short period of time. Students can choose a number of course formats, including semester-long courses, intensives held in Richmond, and travel courses — which have recently been held in such locations as Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Scotland. Bethany also has a significant number of students who live in Nigeria and attend classes via Zoom.

“Bethany and ESR are committed to offering courses in a variety of formats and schedules in order to allow students options as they pursue their degrees,” says Bethany Academic Dean Steve Schweitzer. “Our faculty do a great job of responding to the needs and interests of students and creating courses that work well in the Intensive format.”

Dr. Russell Haitch, Theology and Ministry in Response to Crisis

Dr. Dawn Ottoni-Wilhelm, Spiritual Formation through Contemplation and Action
