Title: Coordinator for Bethany BOLD

Reports to:  Dr. Maggie Elwell, Assistant Professor of Peace Studies and Director of Bethany BOLD

Job Classification: Full-time, exempt, administrative faculty

Location:  Close geographical proximity, allowing for regular on-site work

General Description

Bethany Theological Seminary is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic person to assist with our community engagement program, Bethany BOLD, which connects students with meaningful volunteer opportunities. This role involves planning events, administrative assistance, and tracking and supporting students to meet program requirements. It includes networking and building relationships in Wayne County and other communities where Bethany students live.

Responsibilities

  • Connect students with service opportunities in Wayne County, Indiana, according to the BOLD program values.
  • Form and maintain community relationships with nonprofit organizations and churches in Wayne County, Indiana, and in other locations for distance students.
  • Plan events for distance students and others to experience short-term BOLD immersive experiences.
  • Plan events for BOLD programming.
  • Assist the Director of BOLD with program administrative tasks.
  • Assist in tracking Ministry Formation mentor teams.
  • Support students in fulfilling BOLD program requirements.
  • Work with students to develop and track personal goals.
  • Expectation of work 1-2 evenings per week and occasional weekends.
  • Expectation of travel 20-30 days per year.

Relationships

The Coordinator reports to the Director of BOLD. The Coordinator will interact with students, faculty, staff, community members, churches, and nonprofit organizations.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for nonprofit work, social justice advocacy, community organizing, and religious life.
  • Administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on schedule.
  • Experience in a formational program, such as a service-year.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Bethany Seminary and BOLD.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
