UP@Bethany gives juniors and seniors at the six Brethren-related colleges and universities a jumpstart on graduate school at Bethany Theological Seminary without the need to travel.
Rise to a New Level
UP@Bethany offers an array of engaging and challenging courses that are usually not available to undergraduates. These specialty courses explore spirituality, the connection between religion and culture, Biblical studies, theology, and more.
You can try a single course, begin working on a graduate certificate, or pursue a master’s degree — all before graduating from college.
3+2 Master’s degree options
(resulting in a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Bethany)
- Master of Arts (concentrations in Biblical Studies, Brethren Studies, Historical Studies, Theological Studies, and Peace Studies)
- Master of Arts: Theopoetics and Writing
3+1 certificate options (each requires 5-6 courses)
(resulting in a bachelor’s degree and a graduate certificate from Bethany)
- Certificate of Achievement in Theological Studies
- Certificate in Intercontextual Biblical Interpretation
- Certificate in Peacemaking, Violence, and Power
- Certificate in Theopoetics and Theological Imagination
Most Bethany courses are available in synchronous video or asynchronous online formats. McPherson students should consult with their academic advisor about course selection.
Bethany courses can provide undergraduate credits at the discretion of the partner colleges and universities. There is no additional cost for this program. Students will pay regular undergraduate tuition and fees while enrolled in UP@Bethany.
