Rev. Tabitha Rudy to Join Staff of Brethren Academy

The Rev. Tabitha Rudy will join the staff of the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership (BAML) as part-time Coordinator of English-Language Ministry Training Programs, with a start date of May 1, 2025. Rudy has served the Church of the Brethren in a variety of capacities including as pastor, associate district executive, and teacher. Most recently, Rudy has served as the administrative assistant for the Part-time Pastor; Full-time Church program, a position she will continue alongside her work with BAML. Rudy and her spouse, Daniel, are also parents of two young daughters and make their home in Boones Mill, Virginia.

Rudy received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies/History/Political Science, and Secondary Ed. from Ferrum College in May 2009. In May of 2012, she earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (Social Sciences) from Hollins University. And in May 2017, Rudy graduated from Bethany Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity, with an emphasis on Leadership and Administration.

For BAML, which has its offices at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind., Rudy will take on a leadership role in planning and implementing non-graduate, certificate-level ministry training programs for English-speaking individuals who are seeking credentialing in the Church of the Brethren. Central to these programs are Training in Ministry (TRIM) and Education for Shared Ministry (EFSM). Rudy will remain based in Virginia, but she will travel as needed for orientations and program support.

“We are excited to welcome Tabitha to the Brethren Academy team,” says Rev. Janet Ober Lambert, director of BAML. “Tabitha brings a wealth of educational experience and excellent organization skills. She has a heart for the Church, in particular the Church of the Brethren. I have confidence that all these strengths will work together to benefit out students and all lifelong learners within the church.”

At BAML, Rudy will join a team responsible for a variety of initiatives, including continuing education for clergy and laity alike and Strength for the Journey, a program which fosters small-group educational experiences for ministers in the Church of the Brethren.
