Thrifty Thursday: Every Kid in a Park

Are you the parent of a fourth grader? Love National Parks? This Thrifty Thursday tip is for you!

This academic year (2015-2016) the National Parks are letting fourth graders and their families into National Parks for FREE. One fourth grader’s pass gets admits any child under 16 and up to three adults. So, maybe you know a fourth grader?! You can read about official rules here.

In addition to the “Every Kid in a Park” initiative, the National Park Service offers about six days each year that are fee free admission. The remaining dates for the 2015 year are below.

  • September 26
    National Public Lands Day
  • November 11
    Veterans Day

Only 127 parks actually charge an entrance fee–so start planning your sabbath in the woods!
