Occasional Student Application Essay Instructions

Please prepare a formal one-page essay, which will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. At Bethany, we welcome theological diversity and strive to create a respectful and caring learning environment for all. Please note that your essays will NOT be judged or critiqued for adherence to any certain theological perspective.

Be sure to address each of the following in your response:

1. How your personal and professional goals relate to your faith perspective;
2. Your understandings of the church;
3. Your sense of calling or vocation; and
4. How you believe a seminary education at Bethany can help you fulfill your goals.

Essays should be typed and double-spaced, with one-inch margins, using Times New Roman 12-point font. Include your name, date, and the name of the class you are intending to take at the top of the document.

Email your essay as an attached file in MS-Word (.doc or .docx), WordPerfect (.wpd), Open Office (.odt), rich-text format (.rtf), or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format to: admissions@bethanyseminary.edu.
