PLENARY SPEAKERS

Over the Rhine

Performing duo from Ohio, named among the top 100 living songwriters

Keenly aware of the troubles of our time, Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler will discuss how their spirituality infuses their music and will offer a songwriting workshop. “We still believe in meaningful work. . . . With the darkness falling, we still find reason to dance.”

Sister Simone Campbell

Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice

Hear stories about the spiritual, economic, and emotional lives of people living outside major cities—which defy stereotypes. Sister Campbell is a leader in advocacy for systemic change, an attorney, a speaker on national news and talk shows, and the author of A Nun on the Bus.

A group of writing experts will also offer sessions on telling our stories of Midwestern life, courageous and heartfelt writing, networking with writers, publishing acquisitions, blending fact with fiction, and writing lyric poetry. The colloquium will close with a panel on “More Than Flyover Country: Arts and Community Renewal in the Midwest.”
