Certificate for Chaplaincy Preparation

Purpose

The Certificate for Chaplaincy Preparation (CCP) program prepares MDiv students for a vocation as a board-certified chaplain with 15 hours of additional coursework that enhances the scope of pastoral care and ministry studies and allows for further Clinical Pastoral Education experiences beyond the requirements of Bethany’s MDiv program.

This certificate is only available to current Bethany MDiv students.

Please see the catalog for further details on the CCP.

Primary Faculty

Our entire teaching faculty provide scholarly leadership in their disciplines. Students in the CCP program will have opportunity to connect with a number of our professors as they take courses in a variety of areas.

Courses

CCP students take five courses totaling 15 credit hours, with two of them also counting within the MDiv requirements. The other three courses come from a list of options relevant to chaplaincy. Students can take any number of courses in a semester. Not all courses are offered every year. The certificate can be completed in one to two years.

While six credits are shared with the MDiv program, other credits earned as part of the CCP cannot be shared with another program.
