Academy Welcomes New Staff Member

The Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership is pleased to welcome Roxanne Aguirre as the new part-time coordinator of Spanish-language ministry training programs. She begins on January 16, 2018, and will work from her home in central California. The Academy is a ministry training partnership of Bethany Theological Seminary and the Church of the Brethren Office of Ministry.

Aguirre holds an MA in marriage and family therapy from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary and a BA in psychology from California State University Fresno. Over the past ten years, she has worked with persons of all ages in mental and behavioral health settings, education centers, and the public school system. Her services have included individual and group therapy, behavioral coaching, case managing, life skills training, and foster care support. She is a member of the Pacific Southwest District board.

“Roxanne brings a wonderful combination of skills and life experiences to the Brethren Academy,” says Janet Ober Lambert, director of the Academy. “She is bilingual and bicultural. Having grown up in the Apostolic Church, she received her training from a Mennonite seminary before finding her current home in the Church of the Brethren. Moreover, Roxanne has a great passion for the Hispanic church, its many contributions to the wider community of faith, and the ongoing encouragement and education of its leaders.”

In her role, Aguirre will administer the Academy’s certificate-level ministry training programs in Spanish: Seminario Biblico Anabautista Hispano-de la Iglesia de los Hermanos (SeBAH-CoB) and the new Spanish-language tracks in Education for a Shared Ministry. She will work with various constituencies to provide leadership for these programs, travel to meet with students and supervisors, and maintain communication with all participants.
