Bethany Seminary to Host Chanticleer String Quartet Concert

Bethany Theological Seminary will host a concert by Chanticleer String Quartet in Nicarry Chapel on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 3 p.m. The event is part of Chanticleer’s Summer Festival, which is celebrating its 50th year.
Founded in 1977, the Chanticleer String Quartet has brought what one critic called, “a new dimension of music to the Midwest.” The quartet reaches thousands of listeners annually through its Summer Music Festival in Indiana, and its children’s programs which take place throughout the year. The Chanticleers perform not only in the usual concert venues. They make a special effort to reach people in rural communities, state hospitals, juvenile centers, nursing homes, inner cities, housing development complexes and community centers. Each summer a guest artist joins the quartet in a program that encourages an awareness of international and intercultural understanding. Music ranges from classical to jazz, contemporary to tango. The musicians talk about the pieces being played and take time after each performance to visit with their audience.
The concert is part of a summer festival that includes seven other concerts in Indiana. Learn more at chanticleerquartet.com. The repertoire for this summer’s festival includes music by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert. They will also perform familiar tunes from Broadway, film, and pop repertoire, with guest artist Darius Frowner on piano.
The Chanticleer String Quartet features Stefan Xhori (violin), Caroline Klemperer Green (founder, violin), Jennifer Smith (viola), and Elizabeth Gottling Mendoza (Cello).
Bethany’s Nicarry Chapel has become a notable local venue for chamber music. In the past year, the Seminary has hosted free concerts featuring small ensembles from the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. A facility designed with musical performance in mind, Nicarry is home to a Steinway Grand b piano and a pipe organ.
The concert by Chanticleer String Quartet is free with a reception to follow.
