Celebrating Our Nigerian Graduates

Bethany held its biannual commencement ceremony in Jos, Nigeria on May 26, 2026, honoring graduates from 2025 and 2026. Our Nigerian graduates have earned the Postgraduate Diploma in Biblical Peacemaking. The Seminary is now offering a full master’s degree — the Master of Arts in Biblical Peacemaking (MABP) — designed specifically for the Nigerian context. The Seminary looks forward to conferring the first MABP degree soon.

Dr. Dan Ulrich, Wieand professor of new testament studies, was in Jos to teach an in-person May intensive course, and he delivered the commencement address. President Jeff Carter and Academic Dean Steve Schweitzer were on hand to host the ceremony and confer the degrees. Doug Macias, director of fundraising and constituent relations, also traveled to Jos and joined Carter and Schweitzer on visits with various institutional partners.

The commencement ceremony in Jos was planned by Bethany’s on-site staff in Jos — Sharon Flaten, assistant of recruitment and student development, and Joshua Sati, academic and operations manager. The ceremony included remarks from several local dignitaries, and it was well attended by family and friends of the graduates.
