Looking to add some music to your life? Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of music on Sunday, September 29. The Recital Series, a free collaborative concert series sponsored by the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and Bethany Theological Seminary, features musicians from RSO in smaller ensembles. RSO concertmaster, Mari Lunde, will be joined by pianist Bin Yu for this free performance.
Richmond Symphony Orchestra executive director Monica Koechlein and Bethany Theological Seminary president Jeff Carter are excited about The Recital Series. “Music has a way of touching the heart, igniting the mind, and inspiring the soul, and Bethany is excited to continue hosting these fine performances in partnership with the RSO. We are so pleased to welcome community members to Bethany Center, many for the first time. As Bethany celebrates twenty-five years in Richmond, it is an honor to partner with the RSO and offer music as a gift to the community—a community which has embraced our presence as an institution of higher learning,” says Carter.
“Partnerships like this one with Bethany provide unique opportunities for local music and enrich the community. The Recital Series enjoyed great success last year as an audience favorite. We look forward to another great series,” adds Koechlein.
The performance is at 4:00 p.m. in Bethany’s Nicarry Chapel, located at 615 National Road West in Richmond. Works by Beethoven, Dvo?ák, de Falla, and Gershwin will be played. A light reception follows.
The free concert series continues Sundays at 4:00 p.m. on November 3, March 29, and April 19. The November 3 concert features David Roode, trombonist, and Mika Komuro, pianist.
