The Passing of Esther Lang

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news of the passing of Esther Lang. Esther died Monday afternoon at Reid Hospital where she was in hospice care. Esther was much beloved by the Bethany community and it was a great joy to celebrate her service to the Seminary at her recent retirement gathering. An obituary and details about Esther’s service and visitation are below.

On behalf our the entire Bethany Theological Seminary community, I offer condolences to Esther’s family and friends.

She completed training to become a CAN, but her most recent job was at Bethany Theological Seminary where she worked as a custodian for 23 years until her retirement on May 12, 2023; a job she thoroughly enjoyed, and took lots of pride, along with sharing her homemade goodies with everyone there.

She attended First Friends Meeting.

The family would like to give a great big “Thank You” to the 5th Floor nursing staff, and to Dr. Desantis and the Hospice team; also Dr. XU who took the time to explain things to us.

Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Etling officiating; burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
